HID's In Trouble?

HID Kits are becoming one of those car accessories that everyone wants to have but are afraid to get. Local law enforcement has started cracking down on HID kits across the country because they are "not DOT approved" according to a source in the local sherriff's office.

These kits are exceptionally bright, and range in color from crystal white, to slightly amber, to blues and purples. They really brighten up the road, but they are blinding to other drivers, sources say.

There is however an alternative to those who would like a brighter light, and even a little color added. Xenon bulbs are now being offered in the popular HID colors, and they are up to 150% brighter than stock bulbs. These xenon bulbs are labled as "DOT approved" and are a great alternative to the newly-outlawed HID Kits.

The kits are still being sold as an "offroad item only" and can be installed on show cars, but if they are caught on the road, the fines are pretty hefty. So proceeed with caution and make sure any lighting upgrades you add are DOT approved and save yourself some green.
